Welcome to The Lifestyle Nook.

Me at a castle overlooking Bristol

Hi there! My name is Ellie, and I am delighted to welcome you to The Lifestyle Nook.

Let me tell you, it's been a long time coming. But we're officially live, and I cannot wait to get started! First, I'd like to tell you a little bit about myself.

I am a third-year mathematics undergraduate at Manchester Metropolitan University. I know what you're thinking; if I'm a mathematician, why am I blogging? Well, I never did really narrow down my interests.

I'm also a self-employed freelance content creator who specialises in novels and SEO-friendly articles.

When I initially began my studies, I accepted that writing was simply a hobby of mine. Mathematics was the field to pursue for a steady profession and a clear path! But as time passed, I realised I couldn't give up my passion for writing. So why can't I have both?

I began freelancing in late 2021, writing occasional articles, proofreading blog posts, and filming vlogs. This was an excellent means of making some quick money, but it didn't truly ignite a spark in me. And then I landed my dream job (or so I thought).

I started ghostwriting novels for a couple of publishing houses, and since then my business has blossomed. I've filmed vlogs and written articles for major UK businesses, completed over a dozen titles for clients all around the world, and contributed to a variety of music, gaming, and lifestyle blogs.

When I said I had gotten my dream job, I really meant it. And I do enjoy my job, but there's something unsatisfying about finishing a novel that isn't my own. It left my thirst unquenched. What's stopping me from writing my own novel, I wondered, if I could write one for someone else?

This prompted me to begin writing my own novel, which I aspire to complete by the end of the year. In the meantime, I had an idea!

The Lifestyle Nook is so many things.

Firstly, it allows me to write blog posts on my own terms! With my own personal touch, thoughts, and unique counsel. I've always enjoyed writing for other blogs, but this gives me complete creative power and allows me to make it far more personal.

This may sound dramatic, but reading blogs transformed my life. I owe a great deal of my self-improvement throughout the years to the perspectives of others, and I consider myself fortunate to have had the opportunity to read them. I hope to be able to provide that for others. Not only in the world of the written word but in every aspect of life.

Nevertheless, the Lifestyle Nook is more than just that. It is a community, a safe haven, a place to feel at home, and I dream that we will one day have a large family.

I have many ambitions for my blog in the near (and distant) future. None are set in stone, but adaptability is something I’ve been working on. So, my plans.

I intend to publish a blog post every few days, if not more frequently. These will cover self-development, organisation, life improvement, mental health, and other, more niche themes. Of course, if you have any ideas, please leave a comment or post in our forum! I want this to be a collaborative space.

This one may take some time to come to completion, but it is significant! I want to travel, and I intend to build a travel section that will incorporate all of my adventure blogs and allow me to break into the field of travel writing. This has been a dream of mine since I first picked up the pen, and I can't wait for it to come to fruition.

Our forum is quiet right now, but I hope it will grow into an active environment where everyone can discuss their thoughts, opinions, ambitions, requests, and beyond.  I want to inspire others in the same way that I have been inspired in the past, and I want this to be a shared journey.

Me at a dance class with my teacher

When I touched on my passions earlier in this blog post, I focused on my professional and intellectual interests. But I also have plenty of other interests!

When I was thirteen, I was introduced to a world that I quickly fell in love with. Dance. I began attending a local dance school with a friend of mine, and I was entranced.  I'd danced before, since I was four years old, in baby ballet with a little pink tutu and tiny tap shoes, but this was different.

This was an entire stage where I could express myself, and for some reason, I was no longer overcome by the social anxiety that I felt when faced with the outside world. It was truly one of the most transformative things that ever happened to me.

There will be more on this soon enough, so keep an eye out for updates.

Me with a puppy at Puppy Yoga

Dancing introduced me to the joys of moving my body in fulfilling ways, leading me to yoga and Pilates, which I have since incorporated into my daily routine.  I don't think I'll ever be able to stop!

Many of my blog posts will delve deeper into Pilates and yoga, as well as the benefits they have had on my physical and mental health. (Especially Puppy Yoga, which I highly recommend!)

Speaking of mental health, this is a significant topic for me. I've struggled with my well-being throughout my life, and now that I'm healthier and happier, it lies close to my heart. I am deeply passionate about it, and I am grateful for the opportunity to share some of what I've learned over the years.

And isn't that what life is? It's a learning game with peaks and troughs that rely on self-reflection.

It was somewhat frightening for me when I discovered this. I'm only in my early twenties, I thought! The sheer amount of learning ahead of me seemed exhausting.  But then I saw it differently. When you reframe this, it becomes exciting. How fortunate are we all to have the opportunity to go on this road of self-discovery and learning? I feel fortunate, for one.

The process of writing my first blog post has made me excited about what is ahead. I hope you enjoy exploring The Lifestyle Nook!

I provide services and consultations to other freelancers, and I'm happy to assist you however you see fit. I intend to grow this in the future, so watch this space.
